Does Tapping Really Work? And come to think of it… What IS Tapping? I’ve heard of the term, but really have no clue what it’s all about. Does it hurt?
Tapping is a wonderful tool that anyone can use to alleviate emotional issues and distress – typically within less than 5 minutes. The Tapping term that is frequently used is officially known as “EFT” or “Emotional Freedom Techniques”. Amazingly, the only tools you use are your fingers. No one touches you… you do this technique to yourself, as you tap on your energy meridians. So does Tapping really work? Absolutely!!!
Jack was afraid to talk in front of people. He knew his subject well, but still, when he got up in front of a crowd, he would “freeze”. For some reason, his fear would take him over and he literally forgot everything he knew. And on top of that, his heart rate would soar… he could feel the pounding in his temples and hear the waves swooshing in his ears and his palms would be very sweaty. Things were so bad for him, that it actually got to the point that Jack refused to do any kind of public speaking… but that just made him feel like a failure. So Jack sought me out to see what hypnosis could do for him to correct his fears and anxiety.
As it turned out, I had done a lot of hypnosis work in the area of public speaking. In fact, in the beginning of my career as a hypnotist and a speaker, I too had gone through the same thing that Jack experienced… so I knew exactly what he was talking about. And it is no fun – let me tell you!
The first time Jack came for his appointment, I had asked him if he was interested in trying something new (at that time). Jack literally jumped at that chance. I had explained the simple tapping process to him and he was very willing to participate. After describing and demonstrating the procedure to him, we got down to business and literally, within 5 minutes, he no longer trembled at even the thought of speaking in front of a crowd. Once he was hypnotized to embed all his good feelings about public speaking, Jack invited me to sit in on his next speech. As it happened, the perfect time for him to test out his new-found confidence was to be in 2 days. So I agreed to attend.
Jack got up on stage, and I could see him looking into the audience. Once he caught my attention, he gave me the biggest smile I had ever seen him give, and he proceeded to speak with a confidence he had never before felt, just as if he had been doing public speaking all his life. He was so happy and I was so proud of him. When he was finished, he actually had gotten a standing ovation from the audience. Afterwards, it was hard to keep Jack’s feet on the ground, he was so elated. I had asked him how he felt about his speech, and he told me that behind the stage he had done just a little tapping to remind him of how good he would be feeling… and it had worked like a charm! Jack does a lot of public speaking now and is in demand. His career has taken off the way it was meant to do.
