Do you allow all the troubles of your day to conflict with your efforts to lose weight? All too easily you run into a snag – perhaps something was said or done at work, or something has happened at home, or anywhere for that matter – and it gets you upset, so upset that all your good intentions of staying on your weight loss regime simply takes a nose dive. Has that ever happened to you?

Too many times little things get in the way of what we are attempting to accomplish. Now, I’m not saying not to be concerned about those little things, mainly because if they aren’t addressed, they very quickly turn into big things and much harder to take care of. But it is what you do after taking care of business that counts. So what DO you do when these unexpected and bothersome events strike?

There is a wonderful motivational story that is very inspiring. Even though it is geared toward the “working man”, I found it to be easily adjusted to work with the weight loss efforts of everyone, too.

The Trouble Tree

Author Unknown

I hired a plumber to help me restore an old farmhouse, and
he had just finished a rough first day on the job. A flat
tire made him lose an hour of work, his electric drill
quit, and his ancient one ton truck refused to start.
As I drove him home, he sat in stony silence.

On arriving, he invited me in to meet his family. As we
walked toward the front door, he paused briefly at a small
tree, touching the tips of the branches with both hands.
Upon opening the door, he had undergone an amazing
transformation. His tanned face wreathed in smiles, he
hugged his two small children and gave his wife a kiss.

Afterwards, he walked me to the car. We passed the tree and
my curiosity got the better of me. I asked him about what I
had seen him do at the little tree.

“Oh, that’s my trouble tree,” he replied. “I know I can’t
help having troubles on the job, but one thing’s for sure,
those troubles don’t belong in the house with my wife and
the children. So I just hang them up on the tree every
night when I come home and ask God to take care of them.
Then in the morning, I pick them up again.”

“Funny thing is,” he smiled, “When I come out in the
morning to pick them up, there aren’t nearly as many as I
remember hanging up the night before.”

Now imagine you doing something like that with your weight loss problems! Things typically seem insurmountable when you are in the midst of experiencing it, but when you step away, all of a sudden, the perspective changes and you are able to see things differently. Same thing with your weight.

Step away from your normal beat yourself up syndrome when you find that all your efforts seems to be working backwards instead of giving you the results you want. Something as simple as a bad mood can alter your success unfavorably. A momentary lapse in your attentiveness can set you on a downward trend because you have now committed yourself to sabotage instead of success. Bad moods come and go, but its what you make of them. Dwell on those types of moods and you will find yourself slipping further and further from your goals. On the other hand, if you recognize it for what it is, and just work through it, as with the Trouble Tree, then it becomes a simple matter to pick up where you left off, but with a new attitude and excitement about what you are looking to accomplish.

Speaking of new attitude, a great way to create a new attitude is by using hypnosis. This marvelous, magical tool works from within instead of counting on outside stimulus for assistance. You have everything you need right from inside of you. Remember, you are not wrong nor broken. But using hypnosis can create the same effect as if you truly did have a Trouble Tree at your fingertips whenever you needed it. Not necessary to wait for the evening to unload all your weight loss troubles. Simply access that part of your brain that knows you can and will accomplish your goals and the rest is easy. You will feel lighter mentally, and yes, you can do this any time of the day or night. No special tools are needed, but only your willingness to succeed.
