Hypnosis is extremely effective for losing weight, mainly because of primarily working with the other-than-conscious mind, or as most like to call it, the “unconscious” or even “sub-conscious” mind. This is where all changes are made. Personally, I don’t feel that the mind is “unconscious” at any time. For example: Have you ever fallen asleep with the television on and woke up feeling very “out of sorts”… especially if you have slept through the nightly news? Your other-than-conscious mind has heard every bit of the typically horrendous news and is accepting all of the gory details as if you have gone through it too. Needless to say, not a good thing. (Also one very good reason to never fall asleep with the TV on.)
If you’ve never been hypnotized before, you are truly in for a treat! For the record, hypnosis is very soothing and relaxing, but the best part is – YOU are in control! That’s right – YOU are the one who is in control of the hypnosis session. The hypnotist is only there to guide your session. You can make it work, or you can make sure it never works. The choice is up to you, believe it or not!
Now how can I make a claim like that? Very easily, simply because it is a fact! Your other-than-conscious mind accepts everything as a truth. Period! On the other hand, your conscious mind will take the information it hears and delete and distort that information so it now becomes “comfortable” for the person to accept. Sort of like “Whisper Down the Alley“… you know that game that you probably played as a child. You start out with one phrase or statement and whisper it to the friend next to you, and so on down to the last child playing. There is an extremely good chance that by the time the last child has heard the phrase, and says it out loud, it bears no resemblance to the original statement. And that is exactly what your mind will do too – delete and distort information.
And that is also why hypnosis works so very well to help you lose weight. In a hypnotic state, your body is relaxed and your conscious mind is relaxed. So now is the time for your other-than-conscious mind to take over. And since it accepts everything as a truth, it is very easy to suggest wonderful things to override the conscious mind, which would attempt to justify anything that was being said. You already have the desire to lose the weight, but don’t feel you can by yourself, for whatever reason. With the assistance of hypnosis, not only is the desire at an all-time high, but the willingness to do what it takes to accomplish that feat is also evident.
Now keep in mind, it is very important to offer suggestions that are realistic. There is no physical way for a person to lose 20 pounds overnight, even though that may be your desire, it is physically impossible! Even though your other-than-conscious mind accepts everything as a truth, your conscious mind will not allow anything outlandish! If you are in a hypnotic state, and you are told to… let’s say, walk naked down the street in the middle of the day, unless that was your intention from the very beginning, it just will not happen. Your conscious mind will totally reject that suggestion without even batting an eye. So once again, it proves how you are in total control!
There is another very important part of hypnosis to remember. You cannot be made to do anything against your will! Even though you see people on stage doing some very strange things, on some level, they are not adverse to doing them. In fact, many people welcome hypnosis as an excuse to do what they really would like to do, but are afraid to do for fear of repercussion.
Hypnosis actually frees up your mind to accomplish things that you have concerns you cannot do on your own, but in all actuality, you are doing it all on your own. Remember… all hypnosis is self-hypnosis, even if you have a trained hypnotist working with you. And speaking of a trained hypnotist, no matter how good they are (or supposed to be) nor how many diplomas and certificates they might have on their wall, if you are uncomfortable with them, for any reason whatsoever, do yourself a favor, go find someone else! Trust your instinct. If that little voice is telling you anything other than something positive, like – this is a good thing, or let’s do it, it will be fun – if you get anything less than positive, then just tell them you are not ready and walk out the door.
It is IMPERATIVE that you completely trust the hypnotist (or hypnotherapist as so many like to be called – but fear not, they are one in the same – it is only a title). If you go against those “uncomfortable” feelings, your experience with hypnosis will be less than favorable. The whole point of hypnosis is to get great results and have a good time as well.
So yes, you can easily lose weight using hypnosis, just make sure you find the right hypnotist for you. And then while you are here, coming soon, look for my soon-to-be available audios on this site in the very near future.
