Can food additives make me fat? The answer is absolutely! The obvious question is… what is a food additive? Is it something added to your food to enhance the taste, to make it look good and oh so enticing… to completely change the flavor with a chemical aftertaste, or even worse, no strange aftertaste at all? Just what is a food additive?

According to Wikipedia, this is what they classify a food additive to be… “Food additives are substances added to food to preserve flavor or enhance its taste and appearance.” “With the increasing use of processed foods since the 19th century, there has been a great increase in the use of food additives of varying levels of safety. This has led to legislation in many countries regulating their use.” “Some artificial food additives have been linked with cancer, digestive problems, neurological conditions, ADHD, heart disease or obesity.”

Regulating their use??? If all additives were safe and natural, there would never be any need to regulate their use… To be fair, there are those natural additives that are not safe, so obviously they should not be used. However, the chemical additives are never safe, as you will see later in this article.

Carla is a beautiful 28 year old woman ~~ tall and leggy with the bronzed look that so many of the beautiful people of South America sport. She originally came from Brazil, but is now living in the States, locally to where my hypnosis center is located. Carla came in to see me very, very worried about the weight she was rapidly putting on.

She just couldn’t understand WHY the weight was coming on. After all, she was doing everything she had always done while growing up and never had a problem at home in Brazil. So why now?

After sitting down with her and going over her food log for the week, I started to notice a pattern. Carla was regularly consuming sugar… in her coffee, sprinkled on various fruits… things like that. I asked her why she used so much sugar. She said to me that that was how she was brought up. Putting sugar on just about everything. Carla also mentioned that she never had a cavity too, except now things were changing. This too concerned her… a lot!

So after some careful consideration as to what could possibly be different, I had a brainstorm. I wanted Carla to tell me just what kind of sugar she was consuming daily. She proceeded to tell me it was the regular sugar from the grocery store – just like everyone else gets. When I then asked her what kind of sugar she ate living in Brazil, all of a sudden the light bulb went on. She said it was totally different… that the sugar in her home town was grown natural, an unprocessed cane sugar. In fact she told me how she grew up eating and chewing on the sugar juice straight from the cane as a kid, and not once did she have any overweight issues nor have any trouble with her teeth.

Right then and there, I realized that the processed sugars that are on the market shelves have absolutely no nutritional value, yet the cane sugar in its natural form (naturally loaded with beneficial nutrients) was perfectly safe to eat just like that, without repercussions in the dietary or dental field. The chemical additives that are included way too often in “natural” foods is a total travesty and should absolutely be eliminated… the sooner the better! But it will take more than just this blog post to get that ball rolling, I’m afraid.

After thinking about what steps I needed to take with Carla, I hypnotized her with the suggestions to allow her to continue to consume her beloved sugars, as long as it was the natural cane sugar. Any other sugars she would automatically disregard and ignore as if they did not exist. She was very surprised as to how easy it was for her to actually say no to the processed and additive-laden sugars she “used” to consume. Needless to say, she was also very pleased by the results of her hypnosis as well. Just by cutting out the additives and sugars, and going back to her natural foods consumption, Carla immediately began to firm up and lose those extra pounds she had started to put on.

Additives have nowhere to go in your body other than to get stuck in your liver as it tries to process the foreign substance. Let’s face it, your body was not made to consume chemicals of any kind, and that’s all these additives are… chemicals ~~ and dangerous ones at that.

Of course your food tastes great with them in. That’s exactly what they are designed to do… fool your body into thinking that it is consuming nutritious foods. But your body has an innate intelligence that your taste buds and brain so frequently overlook on a conscious level. Ever attempt to read labels and find that most of the words listed on that label are next to impossible to pronounce ~~ unless you are a chemist, that is. Well, your body also has a difficult time deciphering just what is being shoved into it.

READ YOUR LABELS! If you don’t understand the words or can’t even pronounce them, then please reconsider putting that food into your body. Even if you absolutely LOVE the food, don’t eat it. Think about it… is there an unknown underlying reason why you “absolutely love the food” and don’t even know why? Hmmmm, think chemical additives! Just what are they doing to you!

I want to go on record by saying this is my opinion only, however I would be remiss if I did not share this with you. I am of the opinion that when you are consuming these chemical additives, your body compensates by adding extra weight just to deal with the foreign bombardment. However, it doesn’t stop there I’m afraid. Since your body is incapable of processing these chemicals, just what does it do with them. They get stored in your liver – the large waste processing facility of the body.

Now guess what happens when you overload your liver with additives that it is incapable of breaking down? That’s right, you get sick!!! Terribly sick. Oh yes, the body is extremely resilient and can handle a lot of abuse for years and years, but after a while, it begins to show the abnormal wear and tear and starts to shut down. It can no longer regenerate the way it should.

So where do you go from here? Cleanse, cleanse, and do more cleansing. At least to start. It is critical to get the junk out of your body ~~ the sooner the better. Although it might not be the easiest thing to revamp your whole eating lifestyle, especially on your own, it needs to be done. One of the best ways is to start eating a LOT more raw, natural foods. And if you are able to afford organic produce, that is even better!

Yes, the challenges of totally changing everything can become frustrating ~~ especially if you are doing it without proper guidance from a professional. Do your due diligence and research the alternatives, knowing that the knowledge you are gaining will help you in the long run to feel better as well as have your body work optimally when what you have learned is being implemented.

And, as always, I recommend seeking out a good professional hypnotist or hypnotherapist… which by the way are one in the same. There is no difference between the two other than the name. When a professional hypnotherapist is working with you, he or she will make it so much easier for you to actually achieve the success you truly want.

I have found that too frequently, in my hypnosis practice, that people were almost to the point of being ashamed that they needed to go to a hypnotist to help them achieve their goal. That they were somehow wrong or broken because they couldn’t do it by themselves. I want to just yell from the rooftops, that that thinking is what we lovingly call “stinkin’ thinkin”. How many of you are capable of “curing” yourself of an “ill” without assistance? Very few, I’m sure. It is the same thing when working with the mind. A trained professional knows what to say and how to say things so that your mind will easily accept the suggestions instead of adding more fear, or worse.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that because you are seeking outside assistance that you are less than what you are. NOT TRUE! Allow hypnosis to assist you in becoming the best that you can be. It is simple, painless, fun and so very relaxing. You know that when you are relaxed, your whole body feels better. Let your mind experience the same wonderful feelings and achieve the success you so desire!

Oh, by the way, Carla continues to do the hypnosis (since I record each session, she has the ability to listen over and over any time she wants) and is enjoying her success by showing off her beautiful body each time she goes back home to Brazil to visit. She no longer is ashamed like she used to be. She is proud once again, and willingly owes it all to her hypnosis sessions and all the encouragement that she received.
